Figure 2: Traveling wave pattern of activity in an array of 250 by 250 neurons. A rectangular depolarizing current (frequency 7Hz, amplitude 25 mA is applied on the input of three neurons in the center of the array for 2 sec period at the beginning (two top rows). After initial stimulation period complex wave interaction emerge. The initial tra veling ring-like waves are replaced by local spiral-like and then by more irregular spatiotemporal pattern.
